SYNOPSIS:
Sixteen-year-old Jude dreams of owning a draft horse of his own. When a grizzled Vietnam veteran bets him to take over the brutal winter morning dairy chores in exchange for a spring colt, Jude accepts and quickly learns how hard you have to work for the things you love.
During a blizzard, Jude saves the mare and helps deliver fragile, premature twin colts. Naming them Pete and Joe, he pours every ounce of strength into keeping them alive. But the vet warns him their hearts are weak--they must never pull a heavy load.
When Jude's childhood crush, Amanda--now dating his bully--becomes trapped in a life-threatening accident, Jude faces an impossible choice. He must hitch his delicate colts to an enormous weight and attempt a rescue that could kill them.
Come prom time, Jude and Amanda ride high pulled by Pete and Joe, as the bully is waiting for them.
